Comfort and Seclusion at Little Rock
Follow the road that turns into a track, that turns into a trail, through the forest, leading you to the lost world of Little Rock Cabin. On arrival at this little oasis in the woods, you’ll pass the lovely, little lily pond, past the hammocks, then on past the bigger pond, home to the eponymous ‘Little Rock’, to find the cabin nestled in at the far end.
Explore Little Rock
The cabin itself measures just 2m x 4.5m and has everything you need for a comfortable stay in the woods. The big green doors slide open to reveal a seating area with books, games and drawing equipment and also a ‘shop in a box’, containing some essential items if you arrive after the shops have closed.
There’s a double bed measuring 1.40 x 1.90 cm and a cute and well equipped kitchen area with gas hob and a sink with cold water supply. Essentials such as tea, coffee, a bottle of wine and cooking basics are supplied. Outside, there’s a little gas powered fridge with a few cold beers in it. Drinking water is supplied. Bed linen and towels, as well as loo roll and basic toiletries & cleaning equipment, are provided. The cabin is off-grid. A solar panel provides power for lights and a 12v socket to charge phones/laptops.
Outside, there’s a covered deck with table and chairs overlooking the pond, where there’s a little boat for drifting, hammocks for idling, fishing equipment and BBQ. A door leads to the wood-fired hot shower, basin with cold tap, and a composting loo. This room is partly open to the elements! The thermostatically controlled shower is heated by lighting the exterior wood-fired potboiler which heats a tank of water.
Further afield you’ll find lovely woodland walks, local markets…night markets! Fireworks and fetes throughout the Summer hols! Brilliant brocantes. Canoeing on the river (25mins) away. Historic caves, châteaux and belle French towns and villages. Local lakes with micro-beaches where you can swim, play tennis or just eat crepes & frites. There are various restaurants and cafés in the local villages and towns. The nearest is about 3.5km from the cabin.
